CHAMPIONING FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY AND BEYOND

Today is 8th March, and an important day in the calendar...International Women's Day.

In March 2019, Alison Rose co-authored the independent ‘Rose Review’ into female entrepreneurship with HM Treasury, which revealed that female-led businesses were underrepresented in high value sectors and that £250 billion could be added to the economy if women started and scaled new businesses at the same rate in the UK as men.

Today we are celebrating our team of entrepreneurial women at Beyond Bamboo and taking a look at the #RoseReview to reflect on the success #femaleentrepreneurs and #femalefounders are seeing in business and beyond, but also to challenge ourselves to think where we can support and inspire each other in society to go even further for the good of all.

This year, The Rose Review has highlighted some fantastic achievements:

  • Women founded more than 150,000 new companies last year
  • In 2022, the total number of all-female firm incorporations increased by 4.36%
  • Since the launch of the Rose Review in 2019, there are more than twice as many female-led business incorporations

In the coming year, there is aspirations to go above and beyond in championing #femaleentrepreneurship, including by growing the pool of women angels in the UK from 14% to 30% by 2030, and harnessing the power of the Rose Review ecosystem to offer 3 million business support opportunities over 3 years for female founders across demographics and sectors.

We feel that one way that you can easily support this growing number of successful women in business is to harness the feminine qualities of receptiveness, nurture, collaboration, and creativity by lending an encouraging ear to women who are wanting to innovate themselves and their businesses in new directions.

I truly believe that entrepreneurship and freelancing is one of the best ways to set your own agenda and level up the pay gap, Beyond Bamboo is a shiningly brilliant example of women leading in the entrepreneurial space. Let's always ask the questions of each other - "That's a great idea, do you have a business plan?" or "That's a great idea, do you know your route to market?" - wherever you can help women feel encouraged and supported to take that next step. Helen Forsyth - Architect of Sales Strategy Beyond Bamboo
