THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY HAS THE POWER TO INFLUENCE, INSPIRE AND LEAD THE WAY

This week hospitality and investment leaders from across Europe gathered at the IDEEA Hospitality Investment Forum in Czech Republic. The two day event brought together the region's elite for discussions, deals and insights into opportunities as well as developments within the hospitality and tourism sector in central and southeast Europe. IDEEA stands for investment in the development of Eastern and Central European assets.

Industry leaders from the Central - East Europe (CEE) hospitality investment community took the stage at IDEEA in Prague to bring bold ideas and spark conversations helping the community find inspiration and lessons and do business, that drive the hospitality industry forward.

Eco-friendly practices and cost effective techniques in hotel development took centre stage. Tiffany Kelly, Co Founder and CEO of Beyond Bamboo joined a panel discussion providing details regarding eco-friendly advancements that are reshaping the hospitality landscape and creating a more sustainable and responsible future for the industry. It's a hot topic right now because we're beoming more aware of the huge impact Scope 3 emissions, especially those from the supply chain have on the environment and people around the world.

An article by Billerud Managed Packaging, talks about how to reduce the carbon footprint of your supply chain and the key steps you need to take.
They say that supply chains have the greatest room for improvement to meet sustainability goals. According to McKinsey, the typical consumer company's supply chain creates much greater social and environmental costs than its own operations. Supply chain impacts account for more than 80% of greenhouse gas emissions and more than 90% of the impact on air, land, water, biodiversity and geological resources.

It's becoming clear that cleaning up your supply chain is one of the biggest ways that you're going to be able to have a real environmentally positive impact as a business.

Back in May, Tiffany Kelly also spoke at the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance summit and shared insight on the impact the hospitality industry has, both in terms of emissions and waste. Within her message, Tiffany highlights how our industry's size and reach gives us to power to influence, inspire and lead to transition to a Net Positive future.

"By the end of next year Statistica is predicting that there will be 17 million hotel rooms. So can you imagine how many guests that can have their mindset changed, and can have more knowledge and awareness about sustainability.  But also the amount of OS&E products that go to landfill! It's really important that the hospitality industry shows up as leaders and actually demonstrates to other industries in the world, just how much change they can make".
